TEXAS WINS STATE BREW CHALLENGE DURING GRAPEVINE’S 31st ANNUAL MAIN STREET FEST

GRAPEVINE, TEXAS (May 17, 2015) - Craft brew lovers have voted Texas the winner of the State Brew Challenge during Grapevine's 31st Annual Main Street Fest A Craft Brew Experience presented by Bank of the West. Craft breweries from across the country battled it out for the hearts and taste buds of festival-goers during the State Brew Challenge. Voters could choose from more than 50 craft brews from 20 craft breweries from 10 states. Votes were cast as brews were poured in the delightful beer garden setting of Grapevine's Liberty Park. Voters selected Colorado as the second place finisher with California taking the third spot. Participating breweries were also from Alaska, Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Oregon and Vermont. The 31st Annual Main Street Fest took place May 15, 16 and 17, 2015.

"All weekend, guests were having a wonderful time at events such as the Craft Brew Experience and the State Brew Challenge, where guests could vote for the state offering their favorite craft brews," said festival chairs Vick and Jackie Cox. "Coupled with the world-class live entertainment, the children's area featuring LEGOLAND® Discovery Center and SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium, festival food, artisans, the marketplace and more, Grapevine was definitely the place to be for a weekend of festival fun!"

On Friday, May 15, the festival opened with a special Cask Tapping by Grapevine Craft Brewery's owner and brewmaster Gary Humble. Grapevine Mayor William D. Tate, city dignitaries and special guests participated in the grand opening celebration. Throughout the weekend, a series of Cask Tappings took place in the Craft Brew Experience.

Excitement was building all three days of the festival during the 2nd Annual DFW ICON competition. Winners were selected Sunday in different age categories and included Grand Champion Harper Gruzins, 13, Coppell, TX; Bella Brown, 9, Choctaw, OK; Kennedy Claytor, 15, Allen, TX; Troy Grant, 16, Cedar Hill, TX and Jennifer Phillips, 22, Bedford, TX.

Guests also danced in the streets during live performances on stages throughout the festival from artists such as Love and Theft, Zack King, George Navarro, Marc Broussard, Main Street LIVE and many more.

Children discovered fun and exciting entertainment throughout the festival. Entering through a 22' inflatable shark, guests at the children's area experienced the LEGOLAND® Discovery Center's LEGO® brick build area and Junior Builder competition, SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium's touch pool, Grapevine REC batting cages, interactive games and entertainment. Children also received a special applesauce treat from GoGo squeeZ.

In the weeks prior to Main Street Fest, a series of pre-festival craft brew dinners were held at legendary establishments across Grapevine including Mac's on Main, Chill, Uncle Buck's Steakhouse, Hilton DFW Lakes, Love and War in Texas and Tolbert's. These special events featured breweries and brewmasters showcasing a variety of craft brews matched perfectly with delicious culinary creations.

The 32nd Annual Main Street Fest will be held May 20, 21 and 22, 2016. The proceeds from the 31st Annual Main Street Fest benefit historic preservation and restoration projects throughout Grapevine.
