Spring is the perfect time to bring the entire family to Grapevine's Historic Nash Farm. Children and adults alike will enjoy learning what life was like when the city's earliest settlers made their home in Grapevine. Activities at the 15th Annual Spring Into Nash include heritage toys, kitchen gardening, cotton planting, farm animals, tractor-drawn wagon rides, field cultivation, wood carving demonstrations, jump rope making, wood-burning stove cooking demonstrations and blacksmith demonstrations.
Nash Farm, circa 1859, is the oldest operating farmstead in Tarrant County. Through interpretive programs, events and exhibits, Nash Farm educates the community about the heritage and importance of the Grape Vine Prairie and Grapevine's pivotal role in the development of North Texas. A variety of programs throughout the year including the 15th Annual Spring Into Nash, First Fridays at the Farm, Farmhouse on the Grape Vine Prairie, Frugal Farm Wife and the 15th Annual Nash Farm Fall Round-Up offer guests intriguing and unique learning experiences in a historic setting.
Persons interested in becoming a part of Grapevine's rich agricultural history can join the Grapevine Heritage Foundation. Membership tables will be on-site at the 15th Annual Spring Into Nash. Volunteer opportunities at Nash Farm are available through the Nash Farmhand program and information will be available at the membership tables during the event.
Also happening on April 16, just a few steps from Nash Farm, will be the Survive and Thrive Annual Spring Plant Sale and EPIC Earth Day at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens, 411 Ball St. The Survive and Thrive Plant Sale takes place from 8 a.m. - noon and features drought tolerant plants, heirloom perennials, butterfly nectar and host plants appropriate for our area.
