Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau Commits to GBAC STAR Cleanliness Accreditation Program

Cleaning and disinfection program elevates safety and hygiene standards for Grapevine area Retail Businesses, Hotels, City Buildings and Outdoor Event Grounds

GRAPEVINE, TEXAS – (July 21, 2020) – The Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, today, announced that businesses across the Grapevine community are joining forces to pursue accreditation for their facilities through the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR accreditation program. Grapevine’s City Council approved 27 tourism-related businesses, which include hotels, city operated meeting facilities and specific attractions to participate in the performance-based GBAC STAR accreditation program that implements the industry’s highest standards for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention.

The industry’s only outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation, GBAC STAR helps organizations establish protocols and procedures, offers expert-led training and assesses a facility’s preparedness for biorisk situations. The program ensures facilities use best practices to limit future outbreaks, empowers cleaning staff members to do their jobs safely and effectively, and gives consumers a greater peace of mind when active in the community.

“We are thrilled to champion this opportunity and become the only destination to seek accreditation for all hotels, city operated meeting facilities and specific attractions within Grapevine’s geo-political boundaries,” said Paul W. McCallum, Executive Director of the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau. “There are a variety of events that we are excited to promote this fall and winter and believe that this accreditation will help our residents and visitors feel more comfortable and safe while enjoying these classic events with friends and family members.”

"We are pleased to collaborate with the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau on GBAC STAR to ensure its Grapevine venues are clean, safe and healthy for visitors and residents alike," states GBAC Executive Director, Patty Olinger. “We applaud the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau’s foresight and investment in the entire Grapevine community to provide the industry’s highest standards for cleaning, disinfection and infection disease prevention at their venues.”
