NO PASSPORT REQUIRED - BRITISH EMPORIUM SETS DATE FOR QUEEN'S DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS IN GRAPEVINE
WITH OPEN HOUSE, LOOKALIKE CONTEST AND A JUBILEE LUNCH IN JUNE!
Grapevine, Texas (February 2012) - Can't make it to England to help Her Majesty celebrate her Jubilee in June? No need to get your knickers in a twist! The British Emporium, 20-year veterans of all things British in Texas, will be organizing a royal celebration in Grapevine to coincide with the ones in England to give locals an opportunity to join in the festivities.
Events include an Open House at the store with a Queen Look-a-Like Contest on Saturday, June 2. And on Sunday, June 3, the Emporium will have a British-themed Royal Jubilee Lunch at Cross Timbers Winery Tasting Room, Grapevine.
The Open House is free and open to the public and will include a 'Best of British Food and Drink' promotion, with complimentary tea & Jubilee Cake, and samples of imported foods from well-known British food companies such as Walkers Shortbread and Twinings Tea. The store will also give away 100 Jubilee Goodie Bags on Saturday, June 2 at 10 a.m. to the first 100 customers who spend over $10 (while stocks last, one per family).
The Sunday Luncheon on June 3 will be a ticket-only event.
Details of all events are TBD and will follow.
To mark the occasion, an exclusive line of Dunoon Royal Commemorative bone China mugs and teapots are available for purchase at the store.
According to Sheela Kadam, co-owner of The British Emporium, "The Diamond Jubilee marks The Queen's 60 years on the throne, and is a rare historic royal event, last seen in 1897 during the reign of Queen Victoria! We want to ensure that our community can join in the festivities, even though we live across the pond!"
For 20 years, The British Emporium has provided British Groceries & Gifts in Grapevine and is the most British spot in the DFW Metroplex. This award-winning store is well known for its British community and cultural events, hosting VIP visitors & celebrities, British car shows and provides a meeting place for expatriate Britons and anglophiles alike. The store is owned by Sheela Kadam & Alexandra Evans who believe in giving back to the community that welcomed them to Grapevine back in 1992.
