CITY OF GRAPEVINE COMMENDED BY TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISSION'S TEXAS MAIN STREET PROGRAM
City will also be recognized as a 2013 National Main Street City in April

GRAPEVINE, TEXAS (February 5, 2013) - Grapevine was one of 67 Texas cities commended for successful annual progress as a designated Main Street Community by The Texas Historical Commission's (THC) Texas Main Street Program (TMSP). The announcement was made January 30 at a winter gathering of Texas Main Street managers.

Grapevine, along with the other commended communities, will be further recognized as Nationally Accredited by the National Main Street Center, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, at the National Main Street conference in New Orleans in April.

Accredited programs show above average performance in ten categories on an annual report. Selection criteria include planning, partnerships, staffing, volunteer effort, preservation ethic, training and program assessment through reporting. The THC also works with programs throughout the year by providing various services based upon local needs. The Texas Main Street Program is a revitalization program for historic downtown and neighborhood commercial districts. The program is based on a Four-Point ApproachTM of organization, design, promotion and economic restructuring, all within the context of historic preservation.
